George Zimmerman Celebrity Boxing Match - Is He Asking For Trouble?

"George Zimmerman has announced he's putting up his dukes for a celebrity boxing match — one that still needs an opponent.

"It was my idea," the heavyweight gunslinger told Radar Online of his upcoming plans orchestrated by former professional boxer Damon Feldman.

Zimmerman called boxing a hobby he had "prior to the incident" — that incident allegedly being the shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin in 2012 — and one he's since started up again.

Bible Thumping Teacher

"The American Civil Liberties Union is suing a school board in Louisiana, alleging officials at one of its schools harassed a sixth-grader because of his Buddhist faith and that the district routinely pushes Christian beliefs.

The lawsuit was filed against the Sabine Parish School Board Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Shreveport on behalf of Scott and Sharon Lane and their three children. According to the complaint from the ACLU and its Louisiana chapter, the Lanes enrolled their son — a lifelong Buddhist of Thai descent — in Negreet High School and he quickly became the target of harassment by the school's staff.

"Public schools should be welcoming places for students of all backgrounds," said Marjorie Esman, executive director of the ACLU of Louisiana. "No child should be harassed and made to feel like an outsider in his own classroom, and students should not have to endure school officials constantly imposing their religious beliefs on them while they are trying to learn."

After Kaye spent most of the day driving around in a marijuana smoke-filled limousine, she joined Cooper live via satellite and admitted she may have developed a bit of a "contact high." At least 2 injured in New Mexico school shooting

Roswell police say the suspected shooter was arrested Tuesday and the school has been placed on lockdown.

ROSWELL, N.M. — A shooter opened fire Tuesday morning at a middle school in the southeastern New Mexico city of Roswell, injuring at least two students before being taken into custody.
Officials at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas, say a 14-year-old boy was flown there in critical condition and a 13-year-old girl was en route in serious condition. Information from nurses treating the boy indicates he was the shooter's target, hospital spokesman Eric Finley said.

Police say the suspect opened fire at Berrendo Middle School as classes were starting for the day. A statement from the state police said authorities responded at 8:11 a.m.
Lorena Beltran told the Albuquerque Journal her daughter, who attends the school, said a male student was shot in the face.
Roswell police say the school was placed on lockdown, and the suspected shooter was arrested. Age and other details on the suspect were not immediately released.
Police said children were bused to a nearby mall, where parents could pick up them up.
Sixth-grade student Anyssa Vegara said she was talking to a security guard when she heard a shot.
"I turned around, and all I saw was someone on the floor with their arm bleeding," Vegara told the Journal.
She said the security guard ran to assist the injured student, and school officials ordered all the students to their classrooms.
Eventually, she was able to text her mother, Monica Vegara.
"From the time hearing about it until the time she texted, it was a nightmare," Monica Vegara said.
Fawna Hendricks, whose son is a seventh-grader at Berrendo Middle School, told the newspaper she heard about the shooting on the radio. "Basically I jumped outta bed, threw on clothes, panicked," Hendricks said.
Employees who arrived early to work at United Drilling Inc., across the street from the school, heard no gunshots. They didn't know about the commotion until around 8 a.m., when their parking lot filled with police and rescue vehicles.
At the Roswell mall, parents waited anxiously for their children. Some held hands, while others hugged each other.
Roswell has a population of about 50,000. It is a center for ranching and farming, and is home to the New Mexico Military Institute, the only state-supported military college in the West. The city is perhaps best-known as the site of an alleged UFO crash in 1947.

'Thug Cycle' Viral Video Of Swearing Toddler Gets Even More Complicated

"A Nebraska toddler who repeated a slew of profanities in an online video has been taken into child protective custody, Omaha police said Wednesday.

While authorities found nothing criminal in the video, officials from the Omaha police's Child Victim Unit and the Nebraska Child Protective Services took the infant and three other children into custody on Wednesday, the police department said on its Facebook page.

90-Pound Schizophrenic Subdued By Police, Then Killed

"The killing of Keith Vidal, 18, of Boling Springs Lakes, NC, over the weekend has spurred a state investigation into the teen's death and a family's call for answers as they say police shot Vidal in cold blood.

Family of Vidal said they called police on Sunday afternoon to help subdue the 90-pound teen who was holding a small screwdriver and threatening to fight his mother during a schizophrenic episode. Two officers responded to the family's home and restrained Vidal. Then, a third officer arrived and soon thereafter reportedly shot Vidal, Mark Wilsey, Vidal's step-father, told reporters during a press-conference on Monday.

According to Wilsey, as the first two officers were restraining Vidal, the third officer walked into the family's house and said "I don't have time for this. Tase him. Let's get him out of here," Wilsey said. At that point, one of the officers used a stun gun on Vidal. Congressman Aaron Schock Outed - Photographic Evidence

"Over the weekend, CBS journalist Itay Hod decided he'd had enough of closeted politicians. In a long Facebook post, Hod ranted that the media has been muzzled from outing anyone for fear of repercussions from gay-rights organizations like GLAAD and the Human Rights Campaign. He waxed on about an "Illinois congressman" with a virulently anti-gay voting history and claimed this congressman was caught in the shower with his male partner by a fellow journalist.

In case we weren't sure who Hod was discussing, he linked to an article about Rep. Aaron Schock's gayest Instagram photos. As of now, Schock's Instagram account has been locked down and cannot be visited by the public. So viewers are saved the guilt caused by trolling through his buff workout pics.

The case of closeted Republican gays has long been a source of consternation among the LGBT community. Comedian's Pitch Perfect Refusal To Apologize

"Comedian Natasha Leggero took some heat for a joke she made on national television a few days ago, but on Friday, she took to her Tumblr to explain to her critics exactly why they are wrong.

On New Year's Eve, Leggero, a stand-up comic who judged a season of "Last Comic Standing," appeared on NBC with Carson Daly to talk about some of the funniest stories of 2013. One topic of discussion was the infamous SpaghettiO's tweet, in which the canned pasta's cartoon mascot asked followers to "take a moment to remember #PearlHarbor with us."

"It sucks that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew," Leggero quipped.
