Net Worth Lowest In Decades For 30-Somethings. Even Worse For Students?
Americans in their 30s are the only age group in this country worse off than their counterparts three decades ago.
A recent study by the Urban Institute shows the net worth of today's 30-somethings -- adjusted for inflation -- is down 21 percent from what 30-somethings enjoyed in 1983."*
How is the situation worsened by the surge in student loan debt that's occurred in recent years? Is this is a symptom of institutionalized corporate capture of our government? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Student Loans Pwned, Rates Double
The interest rates on new subsidized federal Stafford student loans will increase from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent, after lawmakers failed to agree to a compromise to keep the low interest rate before the Monday deadline. Congress' Joint Economic Committee estimates the increase will cost the average student $2,600."
How is this experience different than the that of European students? And how much money did the government make from student loan programs? Ana Kasparian and Cara Santa Maria break it down.

"God's Law" Violated By Gay Lawmaker?
As is the case in many states, many in Pennsylvania are considering how to proceed in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling striking down the Defense of Marriage Act, and on Wednesday, state Rep. Brian Sims (D) of Philadelphia rose to address the issue with his legislative colleagues.
But Sims, the first openly gay member elected to the state House, was not allowed to deliver his remarks -- one of his colleagues raised a procedural objection to block him from speaking."*
Is this way of thinking becoming marginalized or will it persist? Also, Rep Tim Huelskamp of Kansas thinks Americans are shocked that marriage is no longer being protected. Is he misreading the political winds? John Iadarola, Michael Shure and Dennis Trainor Jr break it down.

Naked and Afraid Reality Show (TYT Supreme Court)
"Naked and Afraid," Discovery's new reality show premiering Friday, follows two different people each week as they are deposited in a taxing, remote wilderness environment where they have to survive for three weeks without food, water, shelter or clothes. When the first clips of "Naked and Afraid" hit the internet, the show got a lot of attention, as shows with naked people tend to do. It seemed like the latest series to push the bad taste envelope: "Survivor," but nakeder."*
"Naked and Afraid" is a new reality show on Discovery Channel sending two naked people in the wilderness to survive. Is it the latest in crass reality? Or is it really intriguing? Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and the TYT Supreme Court discuss.

Paula Deen's Blatant Racism - 60 Year-Olds Can Use Slurs??
"Butter lovers everywhere were stunned Wednesday when a transcript leaked of Paula Deen admitting to using the n-word. An all-you-can-eat buffet of outrage followed, so naturally a statement of apology was released on her behalf. And it's pretty baffling, y'all."*
Transcripts have been released in a discrimination lawsuit against Paula Deen, showing her casual attitude with using the n-word and throwing parties with "slave" waiters. She does not seem even slightly apologetic, excusing herself because she was born 60 years ago. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

Turns Out Incarcerating Kids is a Bad Idea
The United States still puts more children and teenagers in juvenile detention than any other developed nations in the world, with about 70,000 detained on any given day in 2010. And as it turns out, this is very likely a bad idea."*
We're a leading in nation in terms of hor many juveniles we send to detention centers. A study found that not only is this practice of sending juveniles with non-violent offenses into these centers bad for them, but it's bad for society as a whole. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss.

How Many Workers HATE Their Jobs?
Seven out of 10 workers have "checked out" at work or are "actively disengaged," according to a recent Gallup survey.
The poll, released last week, examined worker engagement beginning in 2010 and ending in 2012. The previous poll period covered 2008 through 2010."*
A Gallup poll studied a huge sampling of Americans to see how many people enjoy their jobs, and who are "disengaged" from their jobs. Why are so many people unhappy with their work, and why do they stay? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss.
Paula Deen's Sloppy N-Word Apology - Was it Forced?
Sometimes two apology videos aren't enough to save your job. The Food Network announced late this afternoon that it will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month. The news came less than two hours after the celebrity chef released a pair of awkward videos apologizing for what she called her "inappropriate, hurtful language."*
Paula Deen seemed to have changed her tune about saying racial slurs, apoloizing vehemently in a video. But...do you buy it? Why did the video have so many edits, and was it coerced from her team? Ana Kasparian and Ben Mankiewicz discuss.
